Sprigg Reverse Advent
Sprigg on Ingram Street are doing things a bit differently for their first ever Christmas.
Seeking to make use of their growing social media following and central shop location, they’ve launched a reverse advent charity appeal. For the 24 days of advent, they want to gather in as many donations as possible for three outstanding local charities.
“We always planned for one aspect of our company to be about helping others in the community. It’s been busy getting the shop open and running so we’ve not managed anything like this yet but our first Christmas will be our first effort to develop this side of what the shop does.
We’ve come up with our own Sprigg reverse advent calendar and would love customers to get involved with it. We’ve got a growing social media following and are conveniently located in the city centre for easy drop-offs so we thought we’d launch the appeal in the run-up up to Christmas. It’s not much but it’s important to us and we’re delighted to get started in this space.’’

Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH)
Why:
The staff are based just around the corner from Sprigg and are some of their most regular customers. The SAMH team are running a Not So Secret Santa fundraiser this Christmas.
Food
Glasgow SE Foodbank
Why: Glasgow SE Foodbank initially helped 682 people in 2012/13 and by 2016/17 this was over 9000, 4000 of which were children. They need all the help the can get.
Gifts
The Community & Beyond Toy Bank
Why: Set up to deliver a special Christmas to children who would otherwise go without, the Toy Bank helped children throughout the West of Scotland last year. With child poverty rates continuing to increase they’re aiming to help 500 kids this year but want to surpass that.

Sprigg would like you to donate directly to the SAMH’s Not So Secret Santa at Scottish Association for Mental Health.
Food – Glasgow SE Foodbank
Sprigg is conveniently located outside GoMA. Bring your food donations to them at the shop and they’ll deliver to the food bank. Suggested items: Tinned ham, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake, box of biscuits, children’s selection box, box of chocolates, large chocolate bar (150/200g), snacks & nibbles e.g. peanuts, Christmas crackers.
Additional gifts: Men and women’s toiletries.
Gifts – The Community & Beyond Toy Bank
Bring in new, unwrapped toys and Sprigg will get them over to the Toy Bank at Riverside Hall for you. Footballs and basketballs go down well with the kids but they are looking for any high-quality toys and gifts that children aged 0 – 16 will enjoy.
Suggested ideas: Gift vouchers e.g. Primark, perfume sets, toiletry sets, footballs, books & magazines. 0 – 16 age-appropriate DVDs/computer games and scooters/outdoor toys.
